Job summary

SCA Health is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the PreOp PACU role. You will promote the mission and values, assess preoperative and postoperative status, interpret monitors, and develop individualized care plans.

You will manage pain, ensure safe medication administration, coordinate hand-offs, and protect patient rights, delivering high-quality, standardized care across the perianesthesia continuum.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
• One year of Pre Operative or PACU experience.
• Current state licensure to practice within good standing.
• BLS/BCLS certification within 90 days of employment.
• ACLS certification within 90 days of employment.
• PALS certification required if pediatric care is included.

Responsibilities

• Promote the mission, vision and values of SCA.
• Assess patient preoperative and postoperative status per policies, including cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological and hemodynamic stability.
• Interpret information from monitors.
• Describe pathophysiology of common diseases and anesthesia techniques.
• Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care.
• Implement care including recovery from anesthesia and related interventions.
• Administer medications safely following the 8 rights.
• Communicate patient status during perioperative care.
• Provide education to patient and family about recovery and management.
• Coordinate hand-offs and ensure patient rights and privacy.
