Job summary

Hartford HealthCare seeks a Nurse Practitioner (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join the Pre-Admission Testing team serving The Hospital of Central Connecticut and MidState Medical Center.

The APP will perform comprehensive preoperative evaluations, coordinate testing and clearances, and collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, PCPs, and specialists to optimize patients for surgery and achieve the best outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
• Current Connecticut APRN or Physician Assistant license.
• National board certification as ANP, FNP, AGPCNP, Acute Care NP, or PA.
• Minimum of one year of clinical practice as an Advanced Practice Provider.
• Strong clinical assessment, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive preoperative evaluations (H&Ps).
• Coordinate all required testing and medical clearances prior to surgery.
• Order and interpret labs, EKGs, imaging, and other diagnostic tests.
• Collaborate with physicians and specialists to optimize patients before surgery.
• Provide patient education regarding preoperative preparation and expectations.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance outcomes and reduce delays.
• Support system-wide efforts to standardize pre-admission testing processes across Hartford HealthCare.
