Job summary

Hartford Hospital, part of Hartford HealthCare, seeks a skilled PA/APRN to provide surgical first assisting in gynecologic procedures and comprehensive pre-/post-operative care within the Women’s Health units.

The role involves collaboration with OB/GYN residents, multidisciplinary teams, and inpatient services, with 40 hours weekly on mostly 4x10 hour weekday shifts and some flexibility for evening coverage during resident events.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or APRN Program.
  • Current Connecticut PA/APRN license.
  • Board Certified or Eligible (If eligible certification must be accomplished within 3 months of hire).
  • Demonstrated ability of positive interaction with the medical/nursing staff and obstetrics and gynecology residents.
  • Prior experience in women's health services is strongly recommended.
  • Candidates with demonstrated experience assisting in the operating room and managing perioperative surgical patients are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Provide surgical first assisting for gynecologic procedures, including minimally invasive, robotic, vaginal, and open surgeries.
  • Manage patient care on the Women's Health surgical units, including pre- and post-operative care, inpatient and ED consultations, and coordination of care with multidisciplinary teams and other departments.
  • Work closely with UCONN Obstetrics and Gynecology residents as part of the women's health inpatient services.
  • This is a 40-hour position with primarily weekday shift coverage (4-10 hour shifts).

Summary
  • Provides quality, holistic and cost-effective advanced practice care for patients, families, and others in the women's health department to achieve and/or maintain optimal health status, manage disease and reduce risk of illness.
  • The primary responsibility of this position is surgical first assisting for gynecologic procedures, including minimally invasive, robotic, vaginal, and open surgeries. Additional duties include patient management and consultative services on the Women's Health surgical units within Hartford Hospital; including pre- and post-operative care, inpatient and emergency department consultations, and coordination of care with multidisciplinary teams and other departments, including the Emergency Department
  • This position entails working closely with the UCONN Obstetrics and Gynecology residents as part of the women's health inpatient services.
  • This is a 40-hour position, primarily weekday shift coverage.
  • Schedule includes 4-10-hour shifts Monday through Friday, 6a-4p or 8a-6p.
  • The position also requires some flexibility several times a year to help cover evening hours for resident events such educational retreats, in-service exams and graduation.
