Job summary

BAS Healthcare, Inc. in New Britain, CT is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join a Pre-Admission Testing team serving two hospital campuses.

The role includes comprehensive preoperative evaluations, coordinating testing and clearances, ordering tests, and collaborating with surgeons and anesthesiologists to optimize patient readiness. No call, no weekends, no holidays.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program and licensed in CT.
• Board-certified NP/PA with current CT licensure.
• Clinical experience preferred in perioperative/preop settings.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive preoperative histories and physical examinations.
• Coordinate testing and medical clearances for surgery.
• Order and interpret labs, EKGs, imaging, and other tests.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and PCPs to optimize surgical patients.
• Provide patient education on preoperative preparation.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation.
• Contribute to quality improvement to reduce delays and readmissions.
• Support standardization of pre-admission testing processes.

Job Details

• Seeking a Nurse Practitioner (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join a Pre-Admission Testing team serving two hospital campuses
• Perform comprehensive preoperative evaluations, including histories and physical examinations (H&Ps)
• Coordinate all required testing and medical clearances prior to surgical procedures
• Order and interpret appropriate laboratory studies, EKGs, imaging, and other diagnostic tests
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, primary care providers, and specialists to optimize patients for surgery
• Provide patient education regarding preoperative preparation and expectations
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives focused on enhancing patient outcomes and reducing avoidable delays and readmissions
• Support system-wide efforts to standardize and improve pre-admission testing processes
• No call responsibilities, no weekends, and no holidays
• Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday schedule
• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program required
• Current Connecticut APRN or Physician Assistant license required
• National board certification required (ANP, FNP, AGPCNP, Acute Care NP, or PA)
• Minimum of one year of clinical practice experience as an Advanced Practice Provider required
• Strong clinical assessment, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills required
