Zusammenfassung

Mass General Brigham in Jamaica Plain, MA is seeking a Preoperative Evaluation Registered Nurse to perform comprehensive preoperative assessments and education, ensuring patients are medically optimized for scheduled surgery. The role collaborates with anesthesia, surgery, and other teams to prepare patients and verify testing per guidelines.

The position requires PACU/PreOP experience and an RN license in good standing.

Qualifikationen

BSN preferred.
PACU/PreOP or PreOP eval nursing experience required.
Current RN license in good standing.

Aufgaben

Perform thorough preoperative nursing assessments including medical history review and medication reconciliation.
Review and ensure completion of preoperative testing according to guidelines.
Identify risk factors and coordinate with anesthesia, surgery, and other providers to optimize readiness.
Educate patients on preoperative instructions, medication management, NPO guidelines, and perioperative expectations.
Document assessments and communications in the EMR.
Communicate with surgeons’ offices, anesthesia teams, and other departments to clarify orders and missing documentation.
Triage and respond to patient inquiries about preoperative preparation and follow-up as needed.
Participate in continuous quality improvement and ensure regulatory compliance.
Support patient safety initiatives, including infection prevention and accurate patient identification.
