Job summary

Inova Franconia-Springfield ASC is seeking a PreOp Assessment RN to evaluate and prepare patients for surgery in Alexandria, VA. The role focuses on comprehensive preoperative assessments, medication review, and risk mitigation to optimize anesthesia and surgical outcomes.

The position requires at least one year of progressive RN experience, a Virginia RN license (or multi-state), and BCLS certification at start. Excellent telephone etiquette and documentation skills are essential.

Qualifications

• RN with at least 1 year progressive nursing experience.
• Preoperative, surgical, or critical care experience preferred.
• Experience handling high call volumes professionally.
• Active VA RN license or multi-state license acceptable.
• BCLS certification required on start.
• Strong assessment and communication skills.
• Familiarity with outpatient surgical trends and best practices.
• Proficient with basic computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough preoperative assessments and document findings.
• Educate patients on procedures, anesthesia, and perioperative expectations.
• Document assessments and results in the medical record; communicate with perioperative team.
• Identify health issues that could affect surgery and coordinate optimization with the team.
