Job summary

Inova Franconia Springfield Ambulatory Surgery Center in Alexandria, VA is hiring a seasoned PreOp/PACU RN for PRN hours, day shift only. You will care for surgical patients recovering from anesthesia and monitor vital signs.

Requirements include 1+ year PreOp PACU/Critical Care nursing, Virginia RN license, and BLS. ACLS/PALS are preferred within six months of hire, with a 401(k) retirement plan available to eligible staff.

Qualifications

• One or more years of PreOp PACU/Critical Care nursing experience.
• Prior PreOp/PostOp experience in an ASC preferred.
• Current licensure in Virginia as an RN.
• Current BLS certification.
• ACLS/PALS certification preferred within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Care for surgical patients as they recover from anesthesia.
• Monitor and chart vital signs (heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure, O2).
• Comfort patients as they wake; may be required to gently restrain patients.
• Check surgical site for excessive bleeding or swelling.
• Educate patients on wound care and post-discharge care.
• Cross-train to work in PreOp area to meet unit needs.
