Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking a Genetic Counseling Assistant to provide administrative and clinical support to a team of genetic counselors serving pregnant patients. You will coordinate genetic testing, manage results, and support patient communication within an experienced clinical setting.

Under supervision, you will maintain accurate records, liaise with providers, and contribute to research and quality improvement efforts, gaining exposure to reproductive genetics and fertility workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Genetics, or related life sciences preferred.
• 1-2 years of experience working with patients in a healthcare setting or medical office preferred.
• Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records, pathology reports, and lab requisitions preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor the status of established genetics patients, including tracking pending clinical work-up and follow-up activities.
• Review clinic schedules to identify patients who may require prenatal genetic counseling services.
• Serve as a liaison between referring providers and the genetic counseling team to facilitate communication and care coordination.
• Support the coordination and delivery of cancer and prenatal genetic counseling services.
• Collaborate with laboratories, genetic counselors, clinicians, and other stakeholders regarding genetic testing, referrals, sample collection, status updates, and follow-up.
• Communicate with patients regarding appointments, testing, and other care-related needs under the direction of the genetic counseling team.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in the electronic medical record.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with patients, providers, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Assist with research initiatives, quality improvement efforts, and educational projects as needed.
