Job summary

InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown is seeking a hospitality-focused server/buser to welcome guests, seat them, and process payments at the hotel restaurant in downtown Los Angeles. The role involves maintaining a balanced server workload, handling cash and payments, and collaborating with kitchen and service staff to ensure smooth operations.

The position requires basic reading, writing and math skills and at least 6 months of cash handling or food service experience.

Qualifications

• Basic reading, writing and math skills.
• 6 months cash handling experience or food service experience.
• Able to carry or lift items weighing up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests in a prompt and courteous manner and seat them, balancing workloads among servers.
• Receive payments and process transactions; balance cash drawer at close and complete opening/closing paperwork.
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth service and teamwork.
• Take-out orders or room service and upsell where appropriate.
• Clear and reset tables and assist with opening tasks and station assignment.
• Handle guest complaints and special requests as needed.
• Assist with other duties as assigned.
