Job summary

InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown is hiring a host to welcome guests, seat them promptly, and process payments at the end of service. Build a warm, efficient dining room flow in a frontline hospitality role.

You will greet guests, manage seating with fair workload, handle take-out and room service when needed, and collaborate across departments to ensure guest satisfaction. This role requires basic math, cash handling, and a can-do attitude in a fast-paced luxury hotel.

Qualifications

• Basic reading, writing and math skills.
• 6 months cash handling or food service experience.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Alcohol awareness certification or food service permit.
• Experience reading/writing orders and completing paperwork.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests in a prompt and courteous manner; seat guests ensuring a balanced workload among servers.
• Receive payments and process transactions; balance cash drawer at close; complete opening/closing paperwork.
• Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication with other departments.
• May process take-out orders and handle room service orders; up-selling opportunities.
• May clear and reset tables and assist with opening tasks such as assigning stations to servers.
• May handle guest complaints and special requests; may be asked to perform other duties as assigned.
