Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Insurance Company (BHHIC) in Omaha, NE is seeking a Premium Billing Specialist to support accurate collection and application of insurance premiums. You will work with agents, premium finance companies, and internal teams to resolve billing questions, collect balances, and ensure refunds are processed accurately.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• One or more years of professional work experience.
• Knowledge of general accounting principles, basic mathematics, and recordkeeping practices.
• Strong computer skills and the ability to work effectively with business applications, databases, spreadsheets, and other financial or administrative systems.
• Familiarity with insurance terminology is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Manage the collection and reconciliation of outstanding premium and unearned balances, with attention to larger and older balances.
• Communicate with insurance agents regarding balances due, payment questions, and statements.
• Work with agents to resolve balances and negotiate payment plans.
• Partner with internal teams to resolve billing and collection issues and determine next steps.
• Review balances for policies canceled for nonpayment and collect premiums due.
• Research and reconcile payments, offsets, and open receivables to ensure correct crediting.
