Qualifications

• Experience in childcare or early childhood education.

• Comfort coordinating activities for young children and communicating with parents.

Responsibilities

• Prepare space and materials for each 90-minute group visit.
• Welcome children and reassure parents during drop-off.
• Guide components of the visit (free play, story time, circle time, 1:1 assessment) and contribute to the visit evaluation form.
• Assist with scheduling visits and participate in committee meetings as needed.

Sidwell Friends School, a coeducational Quaker day school, seeks a seasonal part-time Admissions Group Visit Leader to work with the Enrollment Management Department. As part of its application process for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten applicants, the admissions office runs 90-minute group visits. We seek Group Visit Leaders to help manage observations and interactions with groups of about 10 applicants at a time. We plan to hold one or two visits during the week on the DC campus and one on Saturday mornings on the Bethesda campus from October through early January.

Leaders must prepare the space before each visit, welcome children, and reassure parents who are dropping their children off with us. Each leader manages a component of the visit – free play, story time, circle time, and the 1:1 assessment, and contributes to the group visit evaluation form, describing each child’s participation when the visit concludes. Typically, leaders are on campus from about 8:30 am until at 11:30 am.

Great group leaders enjoy working with diverse young children (young 3s to 4s) and have experience in childcare or early childhood education programs. This is a seasonal part-time role that runs from early October through mid-to-late January. Group leaders are also invited to participate in committee meetings as recommendations for admission are made in February.
