Job summary

MCN Build is seeking a Preconstruction Manager with 8 years of estimating experience focusing on mechanical construction. You will lead preconstruction efforts, manage costs and risks, and maintain strong client relations in a fast-paced environment.

You will coordinate with Project Executives, produce design-milestone estimates, and guide bid package scopes and subcontractor bidding to ensure on-time, within-budget delivery. Hybrid remote options available.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Construction, or related field.
  • 8 years of estimating experience with a concentration in mechanical construction projects.
  • Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions and trade practices.
  • Excellent oral and written skills; ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preconstruction phases from design milestones through bidding and procurement.
  • Manage project financials, risk, and client relations in collaboration with the Project Executive.
  • Produce progress estimates, evaluate material costs, and coordinate subcontractor and vendor relations.
  • Oversee bid package scopes and the subcontractor/supplier bidding process.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a motivated Preconstruction Manager with 8 years of estimating experience with a concentration in mechanical construction projects. The right hard-working Preconstruction Manager’s primary responsibility is to manage, in collaboration with the Project Executive, the successful completion of assigned Preconstruction projects. The Preconstruction Manager is the lead for project financials, risk management, and client relations. Successful candidates will be able to share their passion for and dedication to getting the job done and confidently represent the firm, including committing the firm on schedule and cost matters within approved parameters.

What You’ll Do

Our new Preconstruction Manager will act as a key leader in the entire work acquisition process including management, coordination, and delivery of the preconstruction phases of the project and extensive client contact. MCN Preconstruction Managers produce progress estimates at design milestones, evaluate material and system costs, review document progress and coordination, build and maintain subcontractor and vendor relationships. Preconstruction Managers are also responsible for detailed take-offs and estimating, the definition of bid package scopes, and overseeing the subcontractor/supplier bidding process. What You Bring To The Table
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Construction, or related field
  • 8 years of estimating experience with a concentration in mechanical construction projects
  • Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions and trade practices
  • Conceptual ability to work with minimum information and quickly develop an understanding of the client and architect requirements
  • Demonstrate imaginative, innovative, and succinct approach to a project
  • Excellent oral and written skills required
  • Excellent computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite program
  • Strong attention to detail and well organized, must be diplomatic with the ability to be discreet when handling confidential information/situations, excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment
  • Some travel may be required depending on business needs.
What We Offer
  • Salary Range: $135,000 –170,000 and an annual discretionary bonus
