Job summary

LVI Associates in the Greater Columbus area seeks a seasoned Preconstruction Manager to lead preconstruction operations, coordinate design and estimating activities, and support delivery of industrial and commercial projects.

The ideal candidate collaborates with executives, architects, engineers, estimators and field teams to guide projects from concept through mobilization, ensuring accuracy and timely decisions throughout the process.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in preconstruction, estimating, architecture, design management, or commercial construction.
  • Experience managing design development and construction estimating processes.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial and industrial construction practices.
  • Ability to understand and interpret architectural drawings, engineering plans, and specifications.
  • Experience preparing conceptual and detailed project budgets.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage multiple concurrent projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all preconstruction activities, including design coordination, budgeting, estimating, and scheduling.
  • Oversee project development from conceptual planning through construction documentation.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Develop conceptual budgets, cost estimates, value engineering solutions, and bid packages.
  • Review plans, specifications, and design documents for completeness and constructability.
  • Manage project timelines and ensure key milestones are achieved during preconstruction.
  • Present budgets, schedules, reports, and project plans to leadership and clients.
  • Support business development efforts by assisting with proposals, client presentations, and project pursuits.
  • Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors and industry partners.
  • Lead permit coordination and regulatory approval processes when required.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable building codes and industry standards.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to preconstruction team members.
  • Support project teams during construction by providing design and estimating assistance.

Preconstruction Manager

About the Opportunity

An established design-build commercial construction organization is seeking an experienced Preconstruction Manager to lead preconstruction operations, oversee design and estimating activities, and support the successful delivery of industrial and commercial construction projects.

This position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with executive leadership, business development, architectural teams, engineers, estimators, and field operations to guide projects from initial concept through construction mobilization.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in preconstruction, design coordination, estimating, and client management, with the ability to lead teams and drive projects through all planning phases.
