Preconstruction Manager – Multifamily & Commercial Construction

Tampa, FL | Up to $165,000 Base + Benefits

An established and growing Florida General Contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Preconstruction Manager to join its Tampa team.

This position will have a strong focus on estimating and preconstruction for ground-up multifamily and commercial construction projects, working closely with estimating, operations, ownership, design teams and subcontractor partners from initial concept through to construction.

The contractor has a strong pipeline of work across Florida and is looking for someone who can bring both hands-on estimating capability and the commercial awareness needed to lead projects effectively through preconstruction.

The Role

As Preconstruction Manager, you will take ownership of the estimating and preconstruction process across a range of multifamily and commercial projects, from early conceptual budgeting through final estimate, GMP and handover to operations.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading estimating and preconstruction for ground-up multifamily and commercial projects
• Developing conceptual budgets, detailed estimates and cost plans
• Managing subcontractor outreach, bid packages and scope reviews
• Performing quantity takeoffs, value engineering and constructability reviews
• Working closely with owners, architects, engineers and internal project teams
• Reviewing drawings and specifications throughout design development
• Identifying cost, schedule and procurement risks
• Managing bid leveling and subcontractor qualification
• Supporting client presentations and preconstruction meetings
• Coordinating the transition from preconstruction into project delivery

What We’re Looking For

• Strong estimating and/or preconstruction experience with a General Contractor
• Experience estimating multifamily and commercial construction projects
• Strong understanding of ground-up construction
• Ability to manage projects through conceptual estimating, design development and GMP
• Strong knowledge of subcontractor markets, scopes and construction costs
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills
• Ability to manage multiple estimates and projects simultaneously
• Experience with projects in the $20M+ range is highly desirable
