Job summary

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. in Newport Beach, CA is seeking a Preconstruction Manager for our Renewables Preconstruction/Estimating group.

You will lead bid processes, coordinate with owners and design teams, and help shape the early stages of project delivery. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field, 5+ years of estimating or preconstruction experience, and a track record on large-scale solar projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture or Engineering.
• 5+ years of estimating, design management and/or field management experience.
• In-depth knowledge of construction principles/practices.
• Experience on large scale solar projects.
• Experience with alternative delivery projects, including cost modeling, cost trending, and GMPs.

Responsibilities

• Participate in interviews and interview preparation for negotiated bids, acting as Bid Captain and leading estimate/bid team meetings.
• Build and maintain relationships with owners, subcontractors, vendors, and internal clients; represent McCarthy at sites and industry events.
• Track and manage project budget.
• Prepare qualifications for projects aligning with contractual obligations and submit documents for legal review.
• Implement and oversee preconstruction and construction schedule.
• Assist in training and development of project staff and manage risk with safety and EEO/Affirmative Action programs.
• Manage and maintain all documentation/deliverables for presentation to the owner.
• Represent McCarthy at design and coordination meetings and assist in design decisions; participate in prequalification, responses to RFPs/RFQs, and buyout log management.
