Job summary

Layton Construction is hiring a Pre-construction Manager to lead the SBU’s pre-construction activities in Hawaii. You will oversee estimating, planning support, and budgeting processes while coordinating with marketing, executives, and clients to deliver cost-effective, high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• BS in Construction Management, Marketing and/or Communication or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Five years construction-related experience.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret business publications, procedures and regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence and manuals.
• Ability to present information clearly to groups of managers, clients and the public.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions.
• Proficient PC skills including email, databases, word processing and spreadsheets.
• Prioritize, organize and delegate assignments.
• CMiC experience preferred.
• Estimating software knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate pre-construction activities for the SBU.
• Ensure cost history and pricing data informs estimates.
• Provide leadership for estimating and planning support personnel.
• Monitor budgeting, buy-out and cost control processes.
• Communicate with marketing on relevant information and brand naming.
• Plan and implement training for estimators and business development staff.
• Oversee sales activities from lead qualification to proposals and procurement strategies.
• Develop tools and procedures to improve planning and execution of projects.
• Collaborate with executives, estimators and clients to deliver predictable outcomes.
• Identify profitable projects and expand scope of services and profit centers.
• Ensure adherence to company values of integrity and safety.
