Job summary

Hoar Construction is seeking a Preconstruction Manager in Birmingham, AL to steer the preconstruction process from concept to contractor selection. You will guide design development, manage budgets, and coordinate with clients, architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure projects stay on time and within scope.

Responsibilities include leading meetings, evaluating proposals, and supporting business development while traveling up to 15% as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Building Science, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field.
• 5-7 years of experience in pre-construction/estimating with large commercial or industrial projects.
• Advanced knowledge of construction cost estimating, budgeting, and scheduling.
• Proficient in MS Office.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• LEED AP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accuracy and quality of estimates, drawing reviews, specifications, and construction documents.
• Develop and maintain relationships with client/owner, architect/engineer, contractors, and subcontractors.
• Maintain current estimating records and unit prices.
• Collaborate on general contractor/subcontractor proposal evaluation.
• Prepare construction estimates during pre-construction and monitor design development for cost overruns and value engineering.
• Assist in preparing the construction schedule for preconstruction purposes.
• Support business development and participate in industry networking events.
• Lead design/preconstruction meetings with Owners and design team.
