Job summary

Banneker Ventures LLC is seeking an Estimator to support preconstruction activities in Silver Spring, MD. The role focuses on creating accurate quantity take-offs, cost assemblies, and bid documentation under guidance from senior estimators.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of experience and an Associate’s degree or certificate in a related field, with introductory construction knowledge from a general contractor perspective. This on-site role offers growth within the preconstruction team.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or certificate in a related field preferred.
• 1 to 3 years of experience in the position.
• Introductory knowledge of construction from a general contractor perspective.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate quantity take-offs for specific trades or project components using standard estimating software.
• Assist in compiling detailed material lists, labor hours, and equipment costs.
• Methodically review project drawings and specifications to identify estimating requirements and issues.
• Follow up with subcontractors and vendors to ensure timely receipt of bids and clarify questions.
• Input subcontractor bids and pricing into bid sheets and internal documents.
• Maintain organized project files, including bid documents, drawings, and correspondence.
• Continuously learn estimating skills by training sessions with senior staff.
• Assist in keeping the subcontractor/vendor database up to date.
• Prepare RFIs to the design team for clarifications on drawings/specifications.
• Develop expertise in one or more trades to improve take-off accuracy and speed.
