Job summary

Eastern Builders, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Preconstruction Engineer to support estimating across a diverse portfolio of commercial, institutional, and government projects in Georgia.

The role focuses on developing accurate cost estimates, evaluating feasibility, and guiding early design and budgeting decisions. You'll perform quantity takeoffs, analyze price data, and coordinate with project teams to ensure consistent, well-documented estimates.

Qualifications

• 1-5 years experience as a construction estimator or preconstruction role.
• Proficiency in reading construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
• Strong knowledge of estimating principles, methods, and best practices.
• Experience with estimating software such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, ProEst, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with RSMeans, Gordian, CannonDesign, or other JOC platforms for unit price estimating.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed construction cost estimates (labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors).
• Perform quantity takeoffs from drawings and specs.
• Support budget development through conceptual to GMP stages.
• Coordinate with design teams to evaluate scope and materials.
• Assist bid development and pricing discussions with stakeholders.
• Maintain organized cost databases and documentation.
