Job summary

Eastern Builders, Inc. seeks a detail-oriented Construction Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates for commercial, institutional, and government projects.

You will develop thorough takeoffs, analyze drawings for scope, and collaborate with PMs, architects, and subcontractors to finalize bid pricing. You will use Bluebeam, PlanSwift, ProEst, and RSMeans to build unit-price proposals and maintain organized cost databases for ongoing accuracy.

Qualifications

• 3–7 years of experience as a construction estimator or in a preconstruction role.
• Ability to read drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
• Strong knowledge of estimating principles, methods, and best practices.
• Experience with estimating software such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, ProEst.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Develop and maintain organized cost breakdowns for internal and client review.
• Utilize current pricing data, historical costs, and vendor input to support estimates.
• Apply contingency factors and value engineering to refine budgets.
• Analyze drawings and specs to determine scope and pricing requirements.
• Identify scope gaps, inconsistencies, or risk areas in bid documents.
• Quantify takeoffs and apply unit costs using manual methods or digital tools.
• Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors on scope and pricing.
• Assist in bid strategies and coordinating bid submissions with estimating & operations leadership.
• Attend pre-bid meetings, site walks, and RFIs; coordinate solicitations and bid leveling.
• Monitor market costs and maintain internal cost databases for accuracy.
