Job summary

MillerClapperton is seeking a Preconstruction Specialist in Georgia to drive business development and prepare accurate cost estimates for exterior cladding projects. You will collaborate with clients to clarify needs, develop bids, and build lasting relationships while coordinating with architects, engineers, and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing.

The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience in estimating and sales, with occasional travel to project sites

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
• 3+ years of exterior cladding estimating and/or sales experience.
• Proficiency with estimating software such as Bluebeam and PlanSwift.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and detail-oriented mindset.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Take assigned opportunities and clarify client needs and expectations.
• Develop bid strategies to position the company for opportunity awards.
• Build lasting relationships with potential clients.
• Research products, territories, and clients to better serve our clients.
• Follow up with clients to stay updated on opportunity status.
• Review project plans to prepare complete takeoffs and cost estimates.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, PMs, and suppliers for scope and materials.
• Obtain current pricing and product information from vendors and subcontractors.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative materials or methods.
• Support bid processes with detailed cost analysis and competitive pricing.
• Occasionally travel to project sites for scope assessment or vendor meetings.
• Coordinate preconstruction meetings and maintain a cost database with updated pricing.
• Evaluate bids and recommend cost-effective options while ensuring quality and compliance.
• Work with procurement to ensure material selections align with budgets and timelines.
• Assist in value engineering to reduce costs without compromising quality.
• Maintain clear communication during handoff from preconstruction to construction.
• Review post-project performance to capture lessons learned for future estimates.
• Ensure compliance with regulations, permits, labor laws, and codes in cost estimates.
• Finalize takeoffs, estimates, and quotes prepared by others; send quotations and follow up.
• Build relationships with clients and vendors to support growth.
• Maintain communication with clients to understand competitiveness of quoted projects.
