Job summary

Valor Contracting in the upper Midwest seeks a Preconstruction Manager to lead estimating, budgeting, and design collaboration. You will connect design, cost data, and execution teams to ensure feasible, value-driven project strategies from concept through GMP.

You will coordinate with architects and engineers, manage bid packages, perform risk assessments, and present robust budgets and value engineering options to clients and executives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field required.
• 5+ years of experience in project management, preconstruction, or estimating on multi-million dollar projects.
• Experience estimating and managing preconstruction across all scopes of work.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office and estimating software (Bluebeam, Procore, On-Screen Takeoff).

Responsibilities

• Lead cost estimating across all project phases, from conceptual through GMP, and prepare comprehensive budgets.
• Conduct quantity take-offs and pricing analysis using current market data and vendor input.
• Update estimates as design evolves and communicate cost impacts to stakeholders.
• Partner with architects/engineers to ensure budget alignment with constructability goals.
• Develop bid packages and oversee subcontractor prequalification and bid management.
