Job summary

Hoar Construction is seeking a Preconstruction Engineer to assist in providing preconstruction services for projects. You will analyze costs and scopes of work while coordinating with the project team and trade partners.

The role requires strong communication and time management, and may involve travel up to 10%. Responsibilities include reading design documents, performing quantity take-offs, organizing bid packages, attending project meetings, and presenting work to clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Building Science, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in large, complex facility construction and on-site management.
• Basic MEP knowledge and proficiency with MS Office.
• Valid driver's license required; LEED AP / OSHA 10 preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read and understand construction design documents and specifications.
• Perform quantity take-offs for specific divisions/scopes of work.
• Develop industry relationships and expand networks for future opportunities.
• Organize and attend project meetings; produce and distribute agendas/minutes.
• Ensure bid documents reach bidders and maintain bidders list.
• Present work product to internal and external clients.
• Assist in trade partner solicitation via phone, emails and in-person meetings.
• Document existing conditions during pre-bid walks with photos, videos and notes.
