Job summary

Holder Construction is seeking an Engineer to join their Preconstruction team in Herndon, VA. This full-time, in-person role requires understanding construction design documents and managing estimates and cost issues across projects.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in construction management or a related field, along with 2-5 years of relevant experience, and strong communication and time management skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and scheduling software.
• Willingness to relocate.
• Outstanding communication and time management skills.

About the Role

We are looking for an Engineer to join our Preconstruction team in our regional office in Herndon, VA. This is a full-time, in-person position.

Key Responsibilities

• Read and understand construction design documents and specifications.
• Perform construction cost estimates and quantity surveys for various scopes of work.
• Manage cost and design issues throughout project phases.
• Coordinate and manage trades, with exposure to BIM processes.
• Oversee all purchasing required to support projects, including scope coordination, proposal evaluation, trade negotiations, and contracting.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management or a related construction/engineering field.
• 2–5 years of experience in construction management, preconstruction, or estimating.
• Outstanding communication and time management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and scheduling software.
