Job summary

Gilbane Building is seeking a Preconstruction Director to lead preconstruction and design phase services across projects within a Division. You will guide a high-performing team, set priorities, and partner with executives to drive strategic outcomes.

You will shape the division's capabilities, oversee budgets, and champion Gilbane’s values of integrity, teamwork, and excellence while fostering an inclusive, performance-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar technical field.
• 10-15+ years leading operations, procurement, estimating, scheduling, or supply chain teams.
• 5-10 years in construction management or A/E industry.
• Experience with multiple project delivery types (CMR, DB, IPD, etc.).
• Design phase/design-build management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Leads, coaches, and develops the support operations for a Division (estimating, purchasing, VDC, scheduling).
• Participates in the Preconstruction Peer Group at enterprise level.
• Reviews contracts with leadership to develop risk mitigation strategies.
• Develops technical and leadership skills across Estimating, Purchasing, VDC.
