Job summary

General Motors Corporation seeks a Design Manager to lead design and engineering for GM construction projects. You will translate inputs into a documented technical scope and coordinate internal experts, design partners, and builders from planning to handoff.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering or architecture, 4+ years leading complex capital projects, and strong BIM/VDC and stakeholder-management skills. Travel within North America is expected in a hybrid work model.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture or related field.
• Experience coordinating facilities design and construction on major capital projects.
• Knowledge of design management, construction delivery and cost controls.
• Ability to lead multi-discipline teams and obtain design approvals.

Responsibilities

• Lead preconstruction path from planning to approved construction package.
• Coordinate SMEs, AE consultants, and design-builders for scope and plans.
• Maintain design basis, interfaces, and decision logs for cost/schedule control.
• Lead design governance, QA/QC, and IFC readiness reviews.
• Coordinate AHJ coordination and regulatory permitting.
