Job summary

University at Buffalo seeks a Facility Manager to lead the Preclinical Animal Surgery Core (PASC). You will oversee surgical, physiological, behavioral, and neurophysiology services, and train investigators in advanced techniques.

Responsibilities include instrument maintenance, regulatory compliance, and expanding the core’s capabilities and user base in a high‑quality research environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in neuroscience, pharmacology, physiology, biomedical sciences, veterinary sciences, or related field.
• Survival rodent surgeries including stereotaxic procedures experience.
• Experience with IACUC-approved animal protocols and aseptic technique.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of surgical, physiological, behavioral, and neurophysiology services.
• Provide technical consultation and training to investigators and staff.
• Maintain core instrumentation and recording platforms with rigorous quality control.
• Implement new technologies, user training, and fee-for-service operations.
• Support growth of shared research infrastructure and user base.
