Job summary

Teledyne FLIR is seeking an Assembly Technician to prepare and hand-solder wire and cable connectors, splices, and sockets for molding per defined procedures. You will read detailed drawings and BOMs, fit parts with hand and power tools, and ensure quality through inspection and testing.

Ideal candidates have 5 years of electro-mechanical assembly experience, strong soldering skills, and familiarity with ERP systems.

Qualifications

Minimum high school diploma or GED.
5 years electro-mechanical assembly experience in a manufacturing environment.
Must have prior hand soldering experience; wire and cable soldering highly preferred.
Current or prior J-STD 001 and IPC 620 certification preferred.
Must be willing to receive and provide cross training in all assemblies.
Good work ethic and reliability; consistently at work and on time.
Availability for overtime Monday through Saturday when required.
Candidate must possess "U.S. Person" status for ITAR access.

Responsibilities

Performs fine hand soldering using a soldering iron and magnifying glass.
Follows detailed production drawings, sample assemblies and verbal instructions under general supervision.
Understands and applies established workmanship practices to all facets of mechanical assembly.
Interprets and works from drawings, work instructions and bills of materials.
Works on assembled components with manual dexterity and basic hand tools.
Uses hand and power tools to perform skilled fitting and assembly work.
Inspects parts for quality and performs basic testing throughout assembly.
Adjusts materials from components to meet electrical or dimensional specs.
Follows safety procedures and wears PPE in the work area.
Practices safe handling of chemicals to meet OSHA cleanliness specs.
