Job summary

SMG Hunter LLC is seeking a Welder (ARC/GAS/AUTOMATIC) to join our manufacturing team. You will perform welding operations on a standard and repetitive line of weldments and structures, following prescribed procedures where fit-ups are prepared by others or fixed in fixtures and turning rigs.

The ARC and AUTOMATIC positions require knowledge of welding fundamentals, with occasional vertical welding for mechanical strength.

Qualifications

• ARC/GAS welding: operates on standard/repetitive line of weldments following prescribed procedures; fit-ups by others or in fixtures/turning rigs.
• Dimensional/alignment requirements liberal or fixture-influenced; instruction-based technique.
• Usually welding in down position with occasional vertical welds for strength.
• Requires basic welding fundamentals and limited technique.
• AUTOMATIC welding: sets up and operates automatic electric-arc welding machines for standardized work with strict inspection/test requirements; fixtures setup and machine adjustment for penetration and weld quality.
• Make compensating adjustments for variations and conditions; operate equipment such as coated/tape electrodes, submerged arc, or carbon arc machines.
• Work is performed under process supervision; completed work is tested and inspected.
• Both positions require knowledge of welding fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Perform welding operations on a standard and repetitive line of weldments and structures.
• Set up/operate automatic welding machines and adjust for best penetration and weld quality.
• Make compensating adjustments for variations and conditions.
• Follow procedures and ensure compliance with inspection/test standards.
• Understand ARC/GAS and AUTOMATIC welding requirements and apply basic welding fundamentals.
