Precision Castparts is seeking a skilled Quality Inspector to visually and dimensionally inspect castings, ensuring adherence to customer specifications and limiting rework. The role involves using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and ultrasound to verify dimensions and hardness per heat treat specs, and to document data for engineering.

The position requires reading tech cards and specs, performing arithmetic calculations, and lifting up to 80 pounds in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Visual and dimensional inspection skills demonstrated by training or work experience.
• Ability to read and interpret tech cards and specifications.
• Ability to perform arithmetic calculations.
• Ability to read precision hand tools.
• 20/30 vision, color and depth perception tests.
• Ability to work independently and provide direction when needed.
• Ability to lift 30–80 pounds; work in challenging conditions.

Responsibilities

• Visually inspect castings for surface defects and dimensional conformity.
• Inspects castings and fixtures for conformance to blueprint specs using templates and gauges.
• Measure with micrometers, height gauges, calipers and ultrasound; document results.
• Identify areas needing rework and mark for rework.
• Enter dimensional data into computer. Prepare reports for engineering.
