Job summary

Underground Systems is seeking a locator to pinpoint paths of cables, pipes, and conduits. You will perform precision detection using radar and electromagnetic tools, interpret utility maps, and apply APWA color codes to guide excavation teams.

Responsibilities include equipment maintenance, safety compliance, and accurate mapping of underground infrastructure. 1–3 years of experience and a valid driver's license are required.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in utility locating or a related field.
• A current and valid Driver’s License is required.
• Proven ability to operate varied detection equipment accurately and efficiently.
• Familiarity with the APWA Uniform Color Code

Responsibilities

• Precision Detection: Use advanced electrical, magnetic, and ground-penetrating radar equipment to locate and map the depth of water, sewer, gas, cable, and electric lines.
• Blueprints & mapping: Read and interpret utility maps and prints to identify infrastructure sizes and types.
• Marking the Way: Apply the APWA Uniform Color Code with precision to guide excavation teams.
• Equipment care: Perform preventative maintenance on locating machines and maintain a clean, fueled service van.
• Safety leadership: Adhere to PPE requirements and maintain a clean, orderly workspace.
