Job summary

Prolec-GE Waukesha, Inc. is seeking a Coil Winder to build precision coil windings for transformer components in a hands-on manufacturing setting.

You will set up winding equipment, work with copper conductors and insulation, and assemble coils per engineering drawings and BOMs. As you advance, you will learn multiple winding processes and contribute to components for medium to extra-high-voltage transformers.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
• Preferred: Prior experience in Coil Winding, Heavy Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Power Equipment.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds as needed.

Responsibilities

• Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area using 5S principles.
• Set up, wind, and complete transformer coils according to drawings and BOMs.
• Prepare winding equipment and materials; load cylinders onto mandrels; complete wind setups.
• Load cylinder assemblies onto winding machines and prepare materials for winding.
• Wind various coil types using approved procedures and configurations.
• Bend, shape, and position copper conductors; perform induction brazing; install insulation; align spacers and components.
• Assist team members with winding, assembly, material handling, and production activities.
• Verify winding dimensions, alignment, spacing, clearances; perform in-process inspections.
• Identify, document, and correct winding defects per procedures.
• Perform routine equipment care and report repairs via maintenance work orders.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work area for quality coil assemblies.
• Follow work instructions and seek improvements in safety, quality, and production.
• Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and other departments to meet requirements.
