Job summary

Qualifications

• Journeyman machinist or equivalent required.
• Experience operating CNC equipment.
• Able to program machines as required.
• Ability to work without direct supervision.

Responsibilities

• Receives instructions, prints and work orders.
• Interprets drawings, sketches, and determines working procedure.
• Performs work layout and makes sketches of parts as required.
• Calculates and determines dimensions, tapers and other data using shop formulas and handbooks.
• Ensures tooling and material are in stock and orders per procedure.
• Selects and grinds tools based on material properties.
• Procures and makes jigs, fixtures or machine attachments.
• Sets up and operates machine tools, adjusts feeds and speeds for efficiency.
• Machines parts to tight tolerances (.01mm or less) and finishes.
• Uses precision measuring instruments.
• Dismantles and readjusts machinery to close tolerances.
• Works on the shop floor under supervision of Supervisors/Process Engineers.
• Follows safety procedures and works other related duties.
