Job summary

Ford Motor Company is seeking an Inspector for Tooling and Layout with deep experience in precision gauges and measurement systems. The role demands reading blueprints, program writing for Zeiss and Klingelnberg equipment, and collaboration with engineers on part evaluations.

You will perform calibration and surveillance of gauges, maintain gauge benches, and ensure production parts meet blueprint specs while supporting downtime reduction and quality goals.

Qualifications

• Candidates must have completed a bona fide Toolmaker apprenticeship or have 8 years of previous relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair gauges and measurement devices across the plant, including electronic and mechanical aspects.
• Perform yearly surveillance and calibration of all gauges and enter results into the gauge records system.
• Write programs for Zeiss and Klingelnberg equipment and interpret blueprints for measurements.
• Conduct part measurements per blueprint and engineering direction; collaborate with engineers on part evaluations.
• Maintain and rebuild gauges in production departments; set up new gauges as needed.
• Operate and troubleshoot gauge benches; manage software and hardware updates where required.
• Read blueprints to determine measurement characteristics and ensure accuracy of gauged parts.
• Perform preventive maintenance on measurement devices and document issues in Maximo tickets.
