Job summary

Tarrier Steel Company in Columbus, OH is seeking a Structural Steel Layout Fabricator to turn 2D drawings into beams, columns, and connections. You will measure, mark, square, fit and tack assemblies for final welds, while keeping a clean, safe work area and coordinating with welders and supervisors.

The role requires hands-on fabrication experience, ability to read a tape measure, shop math, blueprint reading and a safety-first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Read shop drawings to lay out and fit beams, columns, braces, and connection material.
• Measure, mark, and square with accuracy using tapes, levels, and layout tools.
• Fit components and tack them in position for final welding.
• Thermal cut, drill, and grind parts as needed.
• Operate overhead cranes, torches, grinders, and mag drills safely.
• Verify piece marks, heat numbers, orientation, and dimensions before releasing to welding.
