Precision Stamping Press Setup TechnicianLocation: Saint Paul, MN | Department: Operations | Type: Full-time | Pay: $28–$36/hrYour day, reimaginedYou step onto the production floor in Saint Paul, review the job routing at your station, and prep a small stamping press for the first run of the day. You stage materials so there’s no downtime, verify specs with a micrometer and calipers, and dial in the setup to hit quality standards and cycle-time targets. When a die starts marking parts, you pause the run, investigate the root cause, sync up with Toolroom or Maintenance, and capture the fix in clear work instructions so the next setup is faster. Throughout the shift, you keep the cell clean, enter production and quality data into the collection system, and partner with teammates to meet delivery commitments—always with safety first. What you’ll handleRead and interpret blueprints, job routings, and work instructionsIndependently set up and operate small stamping presses for quality output and efficient throughputInstall basic tooling and prepare presses for production runsStage required materials to eliminate startup delaysUse calipers, micrometers, and tape measures to verify material and part specificationsLearn and apply root cause analysis on die/press issues; coordinate repairs with Toolroom and MaintenanceSpot opportunities for process improvements that increase quality and efficiencyInspect incoming materials and finished parts; confirm conformance to specificationsAccurately tag/label materials for traceabilityPerform routine maintenance; uphold a clean, organized work areaCapture and document setup details and work instructions for repeatabilityEnter production and quality data into the company’s data collection systemFollow established safety procedures and compliance guidelinesCollaborate with the production team to meet schedules and delivery deadlinesPerform other related duties as assignedWhat helps you thriveKnowledge of punch press operation and die settingAbility to read intermediate-level blueprintsAttention to detail and strong inspection/quality mindsetEffective troubleshooting for production and equipment issuesSolid time management to hit production deadlinesClear communication across teams and departmentsTeam-first attitude in a manufacturing environmentCommitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvementQualificationsHigh school diploma or GED preferred1+ year of experience in metal fabrication or related workPress operation experience preferredPhysical requirementsAbility to see and hear with close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustmentFrequent standing, walking, and movement throughout the shiftFrequent use of hands for handling, reaching, and operating equipmentStamina for repetitive tasks and sustained focus during long shiftsRegularly lift up to 25 lbs; occasionally lift up to 50 lbsTools & technologiesPunch Press (Amada)Stamping PressWhy you’ll like it hereBe part of a team-focused manufacturing group where your craftsmanship directly impacts product quality and customer satisfaction.
