Job summary

Steel Technologies is seeking a Slitter Operator to set up and run a slitter according to customer specs and work orders. You will inspect setups, measure dimensions, align parts and produce material while logging production data.

The role requires reading gauges, using tape measures, micrometers and calipers, and maintaining quality throughout processing. This is a hands-on, on-site manufacturing position with growth opportunities and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience operating slitting or similar converting equipment.
• Ability to read production orders and specs accurately.
• Proven safe operation and lifting capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate a slitter per customer specs and work orders.
• Inspect arbor and overarm set-ups to ensure alignment.
• Thread coil through slitter head and reconciling coil identity to production.
• Thread mults into recoiler and maintain documentation.
• Measure gauge width, hardness, camber, burr and surface condition.
• Record readings and ensure gauge calibration.
• Adjust machine setup to correct defects during slitting.
• Communicate non-compliance to supervisor or shift lead.
• Assist maintenance for troubleshooting and preventive tasks.
• Remove scrap and clean slitter area daily.
• Adhere to safety rules and company policies.
