Job summary

GA Systems LLC in Orange, CA is seeking a Shear Operator I to produce sheet metal parts by operating a mechanical shear. You will read drawings, measure, and cut stainless and mild steel to exact specs, while maintaining high quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities include setup, layout, material verification, and teamwork with fabrication staff to keep production flowing. Candidates need a high school diploma and 2 years of related experience, with ability to work overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2 years of related experience.
• Experience with stainless steel grain direction and thickness and understand shearing technique using front stops and back gauge.
• Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate mechanical shear to cut stainless steel, mild steel, and other sheet metal to specified dimensions.
• Read and interpret technical drawings to understand required dimensions.
• Measure and lay out material accurately using tape measures and other tools.
• Verify material type, gauge, thickness, dimensions, and grain direction before cutting.
• Position and feed sheet metal into the shear while following safety procedures.
• Perform accurate cuts with minimal scratches or damage to surfaces.
• Inspect finished pieces to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards.
