Job summary

Hitachi Global Air Power US, LLC in Michigan City, Indiana, seeks a Laser Operator with 3–5 years of sheet metal laser experience to set up, troubleshoot, and run Amada laser systems. You will handle cutting conditions, tool adjustments and nesting while ensuring safe, on-time production and quality.

Candidates should possess a high school diploma or equivalent, strong math skills, blueprint literacy and solid computer and crane/machine handling abilities.

Qualifications

• High School education or equivalent.
• 3-5 years of sheet metal laser equipment experience preferred and/or machine trades schooling.
• Experience with Amada lasers and laser/turret combination machines preferred.
• Experience with laser programming and nesting is a plus.
• Experience with machine material handling automation is a plus.
• Strong mathematical skills.
• Understand technical blueprints.
• Computer skills required (i.e., spreadsheets, data entry, email).
• Ability to use precision measurement devices to work within tight tolerances.
• Ability to work with cranes, sharp edges on machined parts, and moving parts by carts.

Responsibilities

• Set-up, troubleshoot and operating of the machines, including cut condition, tool and work piece adjustments.
• Safe material handling processes, including forklift driving and overhead crane operating.
• Safely execute daily production, quality, and on-time delivery requirements.
