Job summary

Coherent Corp. is seeking a Chuck Technician for our Newtown, CT facility to set up and operate equipment that finishes wafer tables for semiconductor applications. The role is 1st shift, 7:00am–3:30pm, Monday–Friday with overtime as needed.

Responsibilities include executing key manufacturing phases, creating SOPs, training staff, and ensuring equipment meets specifications. Excellent attention to detail and teamwork in a clean room environment are required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in high-precision manufacturing environment.
• 2-year technical degree desirable.
• Experience with ultrasonic cleaning, lapping equipment, interferometer equipment, precision measuring equipment, and clean room operations.
• Experience in optical lapping.
• Experience with precision measurement methods and systems.
• Experience with manufacturing process improvement initiatives.
• Experience with networked PC-based systems (spreadsheets, Email, MRP).

Responsibilities

• Execute key phases of wafer chuck manufacturing processes including precision lapping, ultrasonic cleaning, and inspection (interferometry).
• Create SOPs, work instructions and documentation.
• Ensure equipment complies with product specifications.
• Train departmental personnel on technical issues.
• Interface with Engineers and other departments.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
• Drive initiatives to reduce waste.
• Follow SOPs and quality systems.
