Job summary

Coherent Corp. is seeking a Chuck Technician for our Newtown, CT facility to set up and operate equipment that finishes wafer tables for semiconductor applications. The role is 1st shift, 7:00am–3:30pm, Monday–Friday with overtime as needed.

Responsibilities include executing key manufacturing phases, creating SOPs, training staff, and ensuring equipment meets specifications. Excellent attention to detail and teamwork in a clean room environment are required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in high-precision manufacturing environment.
• 2-year technical degree desirable.
• Experience with ultrasonic cleaning, lapping equipment, interferometer equipment, precision measuring equipment, and clean room operations.
• Experience in optical lapping.
• Experience with precision measurement methods and systems.
• Experience with manufacturing process improvement initiatives.
• Experience with networked PC-based systems (spreadsheets, Email, MRP).

Responsibilities

We are seeking a Chuck Technician in our Newtown, CT facility where we finish wafer tables for use in the semiconductor industry. This role sets up and utilizes specialized equipment to precision finish our unique materials. This is a 1st Shift position - 7:00am - 3:30PM, M-F. OT as needed

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Execute key phases of semiconductor wafer chuck manufacturing processes, but not limited to, precision lapping, ultrasonic cleaning, and relevant inspection including interferometry. Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions and other documentation
• Ensure equipment is compatible with product specifications
• On-going training of departmental personnel in a variety of technical issues
• Interface with Engineers and with employees from other departments within the Company
• Maintain a safe, clean and organized work environment
• Continuously focus on driving initiatives to eliminate waste
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions
• Follow all applicable Quality systems and initiatives
• Perform all other duties, as assigned

Education & Experience

• 2+ years relative experience in high-precision manufacturing environment
• 2-year technical degree desirable
• Experience in ultrasonic cleaning, lapping equipment, interferometer equipment, precision measuring equipment, and clean room operations
• Experience in optical lapping
• Experience with precision measurement methods and systems
• Experience with manufacturing process improvement initiatives
• Experience with networked PC based computer system (spreadsheets, Email, MRP systems)

• Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and procedures closely while offering suggestions for continuous improvement

• Metrology: Skilled in the use of hand and electronic gauging (inspection less than .0001 inches) and other electronic equipment

Physical Requirements

• Ability to frequently lift/push/pull a minimum of 25 pounds
• Able to sit, stand, bend, squat and walk about the facility
• Walking/standing a minimum of 8 hours per day
