Job summary

AMI Metals, Inc. in Fort Worth, TX, is seeking an entry-level general laborer to support metal processing operations in a fast-paced shop environment.

You will verify stock against work orders, set up saws, cut parts to tolerance using micrometer and caliper, and perform daily housekeeping and safety checks. Forklift certification is preferred; frequent lifting up to 50 pounds required.

Qualifications

• EDUCATION: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• LANGUAGE SKILLS: Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
• REASONING ABILITY: Carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Verifies stock to work order requirements (alloy, temper, gauge, size, producer, lot no, and grain direction).
• Sets up saw.
• Cuts and verifies parts are within customer required tolerances using micrometer and caliper instruments.
• Marks each part with customer required identification and stamps work orders with quality inspection stamp as required.
• Performs daily maintenance checks of metal saw and completes checklist.
• Performs weekly maintenance per schedule.
• Performs daily housekeeping of work area.
• Coordinates pick up of scrap metal containers.
• Operates forklift and overhead crane, as required.
• Participates in in-process and final inspection of parts.
