Job summary

Ellwood Specialty Metals Company is seeking a Saw/Flow Operator for its New Castle, PA facility. The role involves receiving, locating, storing, and setting up steel or aluminum stock and operating an automatic saw to cut material to customer specifications.

You will perform quality checks, log production data, and maintain a safe, clean work environment in a shop setting, with opportunities for growth and advancement.

Qualifications

• Working mechanical knowledge/ aptitude.
• Able to understand basic correspondence, instructions, rules, policies, graphs, and/or charts.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic and use basic numerical concepts.
• Ability to use measuring devices such as tapes and gauges.
• Vision and hearing sufficient for the role.

Responsibilities

• Receives, stores, handles, cuts and ships material to meet shop and customer requirements.
• Loads and unloads material with forklift or overhead crane, positioning material as required.
• Completes paperwork and inputs information into the computer system, updating inventory.
• Sets up and operates saw with proper feeds and speeds, maintains coolant as required.
• Inspects material quality during and after the cut to ensure squareness.
• Uses measuring instruments such as tape measures and micrometers.
• Delivers material to next area of operation as required.
• Maintains safety and housekeeping in the work area.
