South Bay Solutions is a high-precision machine shop in California seeking a Powder Coating Operator to launch our in-house coating department. The role covers preparation, hanging, powder application, oven operation and quality inspection of high-value components.

The ideal candidate will read work orders and drawings, set up electrostatic equipment, monitor cure schedules, and maintain records. Experience with aluminum parts, batch ovens, and coating quality is required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years powder coating experience.
• Experience coating aluminum.
• Experience operating batch ovens.
• Knowledge of electrostatic application.
• Understanding of cure schedules.
• Ability to read drawings.
• Experience with quality inspections.

Responsibilities

• Read work orders, travelers, and drawings and coating specifications.
• Prepare machined components for coating.
• Hang parts for optimal coverage and curing.
• Set up and operate electrostatic powder coating equipment.
• Select proper powder types and adjust process parameters.
• Maintain consistent film thickness and verify cure schedules.
• Perform visual inspections and measure coating thickness.
• Maintain production records and troubleshoot issues.
