Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a Soldering Technician in San Jose, CA, to perform precision soldering and rework on complex PCBAs in a growing AI/Robotics environment. The role emphasizes high workmanship, micro-soldering of fine-pitch SMDs, and debugging support for engineering teams.

The position is onsite in San Jose with a contract-to-hire pathway. Compensation ranges up to $40/hr, with standard benefits and a focus on standardizing rework procedures.

Qualifications

• Proficient in precision soldering, including PCBAs and high workmanship.
• Experience with micro-soldering of fine-pitch SMD components and QFN/LGA/BGA rework.
• Ability to diagnose and repair damaged pads, traces, vias, and connectors.
• Ability to document rework actions and lessons learned.

Responsibilities

• Perform precision soldering and rework on complex PCBAs to high workmanship standards.
• Execute advanced micro-soldering tasks, including fine-pitch SMD components, high pin-count connectors, and QFN, LGA, and BGA rework.
• Diagnose and repair damaged pads, traces, vias, and connectors.
• Support engineering debug by implementing board modifications, ECOs, and bodge rework.
• Work from schematics, board layouts, and engineering guidance to execute accurate rework.
• Document rework actions, common failure modes, and lessons learned.
• Help define, improve, and standardize rework procedures and workmanship guidelines.
• Train and support technicians and engineers on soldering best practices.
• Maintain soldering tools, microscopes, rework stations, and consumables.
