Job summary

Aimtron Corporation in Palatine, IL is seeking a Hand Soldering Technician to perform precision hand soldering of PCBAs in a contract electronics environment. You will work with SMT and PTH components, follow IPC-A-610/J-STD-001 standards, and read assembly docs to ensure high-quality, reliable assemblies.

This role requires 3+ years of experience, strong manual dexterity, and the ability to maintain ESD controls while supporting continuous improvement in a fast-paced production setting.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hand soldering experience in PCBA/manufacturing.
• Experience with SMT and through-hole soldering.
• IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 knowledge.
• Ability to read assembly drawings and BOMs.
• ESD compliance and good manual dexterity.

Responsibilities

• Perform precision hand soldering of SMT and through-hole components, including fine-pitch devices.
• Replace components and touch-up soldering as required.
• Read and interpret assembly drawings, BOMs, work instructions, and customer docs.
• Inspect solder joints to IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 workmanship standards.
• Verify proper orientation, polarity, placement, and workmanship prior to final inspection.
• Maintain ESD compliance and proper handling of electronic assemblies.
• Ensure proper use and maintenance of soldering equipment, tips, tools, microscopes, and workstations.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area with 5S principles.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, productivity, and process efficiency.
