Job summary

Yoh, a Day & Zimmermann company, is seeking a Contract Optical Technician to support integration and testing of optical payloads for satellite programs. The role emphasizes precise telescope and camera assembly, alignment, and characterization in a cleanroom environment.

Responsibilities include high-precision assembly, optical testing for image quality, and metrology using interferometers and related equipment.

Qualifications

• Proven background in optics and optical assemblies in high-precision manufacturing or aerospace environments.
• Experience applying RTV and epoxies for mounting optical elements with high reliability.
• Solid understanding of optical alignment techniques and metrology equipment.

Responsibilities

• Payload Integration and Assembly: execute high-precision assembly of telescopes and focal plane arrays.
• Optical Characterization: test cameras and telescopes for image quality, MTF, and radiometric performance.
• Precision Metrology: use interferometers, wavefront sensors, collimators, and integrating spheres to ensure payload performance.
• Fixture Assembly: build and maintain opto-mechanical and electrical test fixtures for high-volume production.
• Data Recording: record test results and prepare data summaries for engineering review via Jira or in-house software.
• Component Handling: handle and clean sensitive optical components following cleanroom protocols.
• Collaborative Debugging: work with Manufacturing and Test Engineers to troubleshoot failures.
