Job summary

Observable Space is seeking a Junior Optical Technician to support assembly, alignment, testing, and maintenance of optical systems for telescope platforms. You will work with optical, mechanical, and electrical engineers to ensure high-precision imaging meets exacting standards.

Responsibilities include assembling components, performing tests, documenting results, and helping with prototypes in a fast-paced environment. LA office supports hybrid work with collaborative in-office days.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certification in optics or engineering tech.
• 0–3 years in optical assembly, lab work, or precision environments.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documentation.
• Experience with hand tools, microscopes, and lab instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, align, and integrate optical components and optomechanical parts.
• Set up and run optical tests, calibrations, and performance checks.
• Troubleshoot optical systems and identify root causes of issues.
• Follow engineering docs and drawings to build precision systems.
• Document builds, test results, and configurations accurately.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on process improvement.
