Job summary

Zygo Corporation in Middlefield, CT is seeking an Optical Assembly Technician to join the OMAC manufacturing team. You will perform precise optomechanical assembly and testing of complex subassemblies, ensuring alignment and performance to specification while maintaining strict documentation and quality standards.

The role requires 3–5 years of hands‑on production experience, the ability to read BOMs and drawings, excellent manual dexterity, and a proactive, team‑oriented approach.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3–5 years of hands‑on production/manufacturing experience.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documentation (BOM, schematics, drawings).
• Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail for delicate optical components.
• Collaborative team player with ability to work independently and adapt to priorities.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate optomechanical and electromechanical assembly and testing of complex subassemblies and instruments using precision tooling and fixturing.
• Document work with meticulous detail and identify irregularities to meet quality specs.
• Follow detailed manufacturing procedures, work instructions, and quality standards with consistency.
• Collaborate with engineering and supervision to provide feedback on build progress and test results.
• Maintain cleanroom protocols and contamination control during all assembly processes.
• Read mechanical/optical drawings and bills of materials; maintain traceability.
• Support root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for production issues.
• Maintain required training certifications and adhere to safety standards (ovens, gases, burn‑in stations).
• Capable to lift up to 20 lbs and stand for extended periods.
